Types of Bedrooms

TYPES OF BEDROOMS : The Bedroom is one of the most important places in the house but little did we know about the different types of the Bedroom as regards its functions and styles. There are several different types of Bedrooms with many design ideas available. The basic design of each Bedroom should suit the person occupying it while being functional and comfortable. The type of Bedroom and where it is located is a major factor in the overall design and decor used when building and decorating the Bedroom.

 

Bedroom is designed for relaxing and sleeping; this means it has to be a private place away from the common rooms that are meant for welcoming and entertaining guests. It is also used for personal care, watching TV, listening to music, exercising, studying, reading, caring for infants etc. Bedrooms can be categorized into different types according to the different age groups that occupy the rooms and their space necessities. They are –


1. Master Bedroom

2. Kids’ Bedroom

3. Teens’ Bedroom

4. Nursery Bedroom

5. Guest Bedroom

6. Grandparents’ Bedroom

7. Home Office Bedroom

8. Dorm Bedroom.  



1. MASTER BEDROOM :


Master Bedroom

MASTER BEDROOM: Master Bedroom is the principal Bedroom in the house. The Master Bedroom gives adults a place to escape the stress and troubles of the day. They are generally the largest room in the home and often have an adjoining bathroom. Some are designed with sliding glass doors that lead out to a deck or patio where you can relax and have some privacy. From the classic to the modern design, the main things to consider are lighting, storage space and comfort.




2. KIDS’ BEDROOM :


Kids' Bedroom

KIDS’ BEDROOM: Kids’ Bedroom is used by the kids of the family. Here provision of bunk beds or single cots, storage for toys, study area, games area and space for other creative activities is a must. When choosing the furniture for a Kids’ Bedroom, match it to the age of the kid to prevent injuries. Avoid overcrowding as well. Kids also need plenty of storage space for toys. This lets them learn how to keep their Bedroom neat and clean when not playing.




3. TEENS’ BEDROOM :


Teens' Bedroom

TEENS’ BEDROOM: Teens spend a lot of time in their Bedrooms, so it needs to have an environment that reflects their personality. Most bedrooms for teens will have an area specified for work, such as homework. Sufficient lighting is important to provide the teen with a proper studying environment. A comfortable sitting chair for reading and studying is a nice touch. Adequate closet space and dressers are needed for personal belongings.




4. NURSERY BEDROOM :


Nursery Bedroom

NURSERY BEDROOM: A Nursery Bedroom is a tiny bedroom created specifically for infants or young children. These Bedrooms are also located on the main or upper floor of the home and are equipped with the basic furniture and equipment essential for caring for a young child. The main attraction of Nursery Bedrooms is the crib, which should be chosen considering safety and comfort for the children. Furthermore, to the crib, many other pieces of furniture that may be found in a Nursery Bedroom; a changing table, a dresser, and a nice rocking chair also. It is also a nice touch to incorporate storage ideas, like shelves or trash bins, to keep the room litter-free and clean.  




5. GUEST BEDROOM :


Guest Bedroom

GUEST BEDROOM: Guest Bedrooms make it possible to have friends and family visit and stay in comfort and style. These Bedrooms often have an adjacent bathroom to provide guests with more privacy. Guest Bedrooms should have an empty closet with hangers and dressers where the guests can unpack and keep their personal items while visiting. It should also have adequate lighting, a comfortable chair and a reading lamp. Many Guest Bedrooms are decorated in neutral colors to create a more comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.




6. GRANDPARENTS’ BEDROOM :


Grandparents' Bedroom

GRANDPARENTS’ BEDROOM: Grandparents’ Bedroom is used by senior citizen of the family. It is always advisable to have an attached toilet in this room and also have it designed on the ground floor for ease in access to other rooms, due to the occupants’ age constrain and other health problems. This room too should not be cluttered with different types of bedroom furniture. Sticking to basics is the best. Have simple and easy to use furniture in bedroom. Have a comfortable bed, beside table, wardrobes and leave more circulation space. This will help the elderly move round the space without bumping into any furniture in Bedroom.




7. HOME OFFICE BEDROOM :


Home Office Bedroom

HOME OFFICE BEDROOM: Some homeowners may choose to convert a Bedroom into a Home Office. This sort of Bedroom is designed especially for people that are working from home and may need a desk, office chair, and other equipment that are generally installed in an office. A Home Office Bedroom should be a place that promotes productivity in all aspects. This may include having a working desk sufficient for work and storage with a comfortable office chair. It is better to include proper lighting and power sockets for electronic devices. These items must be used in a way that does not clutter the space and disrupt the efficiency of work. A Home Office Bedroom is a place where you can work day and night with no nuisance in mind.




8. DORM BEDROOM :


Dorm Bedroom

DORM BEDROOM: Though not used in a conventional home, Dorm Bedrooms are usually compact living spaces given out for renting or sharing purposes. These spare spaces are mainly designed with the intention of renting out to students and Paying Guests. Single Dorm Bedroom is occupied only by a single person with one bed. The basic pieces of furniture include a single cupboard for storage, attached drawers to the walls, a study desk and some storage units. Double Dorm Bedroom is meant for two people. It has two beds, small cupboards, and other furniture according to needs. To utilize more space, you can add a multi-purpose storage bed that can be used for taking naps and storing beneath. Even a multi-purpose desk can serve in multiple ways.
